This charming 2 bedroom apartment is located in the Batignolles area of Paris, just west of Montmatre. The area makes up one of Paris's seven villages and its inhabitants are sufficiently proud of its uniqueness to have formed an association for the preservation of its "caractère villagoise". Indeed, largely unknown to tourists, the area retains a genuine Parisian charm that many other areas have lost.

The attractive Place du Dr F. Lobligeois is home to an attractive neo-classical church and a handful of modern bistros and restaurants attracts a young bourgeois crown. Just behind the place the green, square des Batignolles, fills with Sunday strollers admiring the old plane trees. The nearest métro is Rome, a 5 minute walk away or Villiers, 7 minutes.

The apartment is situated on the 3rd floor (with lift) of a Haussman style building. It sleeps 4 (+2) in a large double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a fold out sofa bed in the living area. It faces due south and enjoys copious amounts of sunshine and light.

The combined living/dining area (21ft4 x 15ft7, 6.50m x 4.75m) is open-plan and offers a double sofa, 2 armchairs, an antique Indian deckchair (formerly used on cruise liners!), a TV (English channels: BBC, CNN), a decorative fireplace, a dining table with 4 chairs and a second sofa which converts into a bed. There is parquet flooring throughout.

The kitchen has all the expected appliances including oven, electric hobs, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. There's also a washing machine and, although there's no dryer, a convenient drying rack can be lowered from the ceiling.

The large main bedroom (16ft6 x 10ft6, 5m x 3.2m) has a double bed (4ft7, 1.4m wide), 2 bedside tables with reading lights and ample cupboard space.

The second bedroom (13ft x 11ft6, 4m x 3.5m) has a single bed and a pull-out bed which can be pushed together to make a double. There is also a bedside table, reading lamp and cupboard space.

The bathroom has a bath tub, a hand-held shower and a basin. There's a separate loo.

This young, animated, family orientated area means that you will find a lot of good shops, restaurants and bars right at you doorstep. An open air market is held weekly (Saturdays) on the rue des Batignolles or you can visit the famous Marché des Batignolles, a covered market open everyday on the rue des Moines. For eating out try the Morosophe (83 rue Legandre), with its modern deco where refined dishes can be had at a modest price.
